Music Ministry
The musicians of our parish are filled with an amazing energy and dedication. Everyone greatly appreciates the time and effort of our choirs, cantors, instrumentalists, and accompanists. Some favorite hymns and responses for the Masses are quite dynamic and bring forth from all in attendance a special state of spirituality. Melodies are sung and also played on instruments by a variety of people sharing their special God-given talents. The pure voices of the youth choir blending with our other parish choirs provide enjoyment for everyone. Quite a few favorites even elicit the clapping of hands and tapping of toes, not to mention swaying, dancing motion of most of the bodies.

The Music Ministry’s goal is to enhance the Mass and lead the congregation in song. As you are singing along to the songs, consider the words and meanings, often derived from Biblical passages. Many of the songs we sing carry quite powerful messages, with melodies lingering in one’s mind well after departing the sanctuary. It doesn't matter whether a song is traditional or very current; either can hold strong significance. Our choir enjoys a challenge in learning new musical selections or by simply reviving cherished, old favorites. Inspiring everyone in our parish family is the mission of those involved in sharing musical abilities, time and talent.

The choir is also a group of connected parish friends, working in sync very well. Together we support each other in times of happiness as well as in times of need. The annual summer choir picnic has been enjoyed and this annual gathering solidifies our close family-type relationships.

If you have a talent you wish to share, please consider joining Transfiguration of the Lord’s music ministry. You don't need to be a soloist to join. If you play a musical instrument or wish to share talents in another manner, these gifts are welcome, too.

Our choirs practice on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm in Upper Sandusky and 8:15 pm in Kirby. If interested in learning more, contact Alan Lortz (alortz@yahoo.com) or call the Parish Office (419-294-1268).
